Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We were busy third graders today. We introduced listen to reading as a Daily 5 activity. We used our new MacBook Pros and listened to stories on TumbleBooks. If you have headphones that you don't mind your child using at school, please send them in. They can keep them in their book box to use during listening time.

We are nearing the end of our Judy Moody unit. We've been working hard on retelling. Today students wrote their own retells independently, and tomorrow they will meet with me to score them and talk about what we can work on before their final retell and assessment on Wednesday. Our "Me Collages" are due on Wednesday.

We had our first guidance class today, so our afternoon was quite short. We finished some math that was leftover from Friday, and we started talking about different types of maps today. Students were given a pile of maps and tried to decide how to sort them. Then I introduced physical, political, and resource maps. Tomorrow we will try sorting again, now that we know what kind of maps we are looking at and what features they have in common!

Goal setting conference notes went home today. Please look those over and return the bottom portion by this Friday, September 7th.
